Our Story: Inspired by Michigan’s Wild Beauty, Shaped by Hand

OAK & ELK was born from a love for timeless design, honest craftsmanship and nature’s quiet elegance.

Ana’s journey began long before OAK & ELK. A passionate musician, she attended Interlochen Arts Academy, in the heart of Michigan’s northern woods. Surrounded by towering oaks and the quiet grace of wild elk, she developed a deep appreciation for nature’s strength and beauty, a feeling that would later shape the soul of the brand.

Years later, when she and Javier, her husband and business partner, set out to create a brand of their own, they wanted a name that carried that inspiration. OAK & ELK was the natural choice: resilience, timelessness and the balance between elegance and strength.

Coming from a family with deep roots in the leather industry, they knew what good leather and good work look like. Ana had spent years looking for a bag that was elegant, minimal and built to last, and every option fell short: mass-produced, poorly made or designed for a single season.

So they decided to make it themselves. Today our leather pieces are cut, stitched and finished by hand in our own workshop by a small team of skilled artisans, in limited batches, the way good things have always been made.
